Obituary: on 8 September 2021: Jane was born on September 21, 1929 to Joseph and Carmen Zammit in Luqa, Malta. She had one brother, Carmelo. She suffered through tough times, losing her Dad at 10 years old and surviving WWII. When she was only 19, George Falzon proposed to her. She accepted, then broke off the engagement. He left for Australia for 4 years, then came back to America. After 2 years in America, he went back to Malta and proposed again. She said yes and they were married on November 21st, 1954. In December 1955, after waiting for 1 year, she was able to join her husband in America. She boarded a cruise ship in Rome, headed for the United States. George met her in New York and they flew together to San Francisco where she lived out her life. Her life was filled with love and she made many friends. She gave birth to 4 children. The first was a boy named Joseph, who passed away after 3 months. Then came Mary, Dorothy and John.
They took their family on vacations to Clear Lake, Lakeport, Disneyland and Monterey with friends and family. In 1977 her dream of taking the family to Malta came true and they spent six weeks with family and friend, enjoying the food, fiestas, and the beach. It was so much fun.
She made the BEST pastizzi. In March of 1979 she became a widow and, since then, she dedicated her life to her family. Family was everything to her. Even though there were tragedies in her life, she never wavered from her faith. She had a very deep devotion to our Blessed Mother. Jane became a Nanna in October, 1983 when her first grandson Jason was born. She was then blessed with 3 more grandsons; Mark in 1986, Scott in 1993 and Kevin in 1996. Then in November of 1998 she was blessed to see a granddaughter, Marissa and in 2001 Gianna was born. She became a buz-nanna in May, 2014 when her first great granddaughter Sofia was born, and her sister, Amelia, was born in 2016. She loved to have her home filled with family and would always ask when they were coming to visit. She worked at Macy's Warehouse with many of her friends. She also enjoyed trips to Reno with the Maltese Club. She was a kind-hearted woman and loved by all who knew her. Her smile lit up a room. Mom's last event was the marriage of her grandson Mark to Marissa, she was so happy to be there. Her passing was very peaceful with her children by her side, holding her hands and comforting her. We told her it was okay to go and be with the Lord and with her husband.
